Positive Thinking

Mandatory optimism and the delusion of changing the physical world with your thoughts are social control used to quell dissent.

The positive thinking subculture seems to be a lifestyle accessory of the sales profession. Taking into account that every action is paired with an equal and opposite reaction, one wonders about a line of work which requires hours and hours of positive thinking tapes to brace up its practitioners for another day of work.

Surest barometer of the quality of the job market (from the workers' POV) is how many people are 'settling' for sales jobs.
