Oakland Riot!
Within an hour, over 300 people shut down Fruitvale BART, the scene of BART Police murdering Oscar Grant.
Action quickly moved to the streets of Oakland towards downtown. People battled police and targeted police cars and city cars as well as shop windows and reportedly a fair amount of random property damage. Oakland Police responded with tear gas, beatings, and, according to at least one source, rubber bullets.
Despite corporate news reports to the contrary, video and photos show clear evidence that much of the action was organized.
