sneaker pimps + sneaker ho's

Adbusters did a fabulous piece on Nike's success in co-opting skate culture and creating the sneaker fad.

Nike manipulates demand simply by keeping numbers of shoes down.
Sneakerheads are not buying a product to compliment their lifestyle; buying product IS their lifestyle.
