Imagine you are swept up one day and thrown in a prison.
They never charge you with any crime but insist you belong there.
They don't tell ANYONE you are there (until after several years).
Imagine you are regularly tortured.

You might lose all hope.

Imagine all hope is lost.
Imagine your only accord is death.
You go on a hunger strike.

What if your captors won't allow you to die?
Imagine being strapped into a chair and a tube being shoved so far into your nose that it can (and will) "feed" you.
Imagine this force-feeding to cause you long lasting pains.
