"POLITICALLY CORRECT"
If you use that term you better be able to define it!

Chip Berlet of Political Research Associates breaks it down

"Political correctness" was born out of a right-wing critique on multicultural projects at universities circa 1988-1992.
It turned into a general critique accusing liberals and the left of engaging in coerced thought control.

So, what was being criticized?
Attempts to redress inequalities of power!

By focusing on the language issue, the right-wing transferred discussion away from who has power and privilege.

If you are using the term, you already bought into the right's framework. You've already lost.
Let's debate the definition.

"That's not what I'm saying at all!"
"Well, what are you saying?"

The Weekly Standard is celebrating its 10th birthday.

The Standard has become one of the most powerful political magazines ever.
It is the child of neo conservative born and raised, William Kristol.

It started with a $3 million annual subsidy from Rupert Murdoch.

It was passed out around Washington and personally delivered to Beltway influentials.

With Fox News, the Standard played a key role in a synergistic triangle of neoconservative argumentation.
Neo-cons could write about shit and talk about it on TV... and get paid!

The Weekly Standard matured with post-9/11 USA.
It used the occasion to shape history.
It diverted American anger away from al Qaeda and turned it against Iraq.

A war of the elites.
Perfect neo conservative Machiavellianism!
