Rob Fish + Norman Brannon

"well-adjusted people don’t need it!"

Maybe I am just an old man, but...

To commemorate the release of the Anti-Matter anthology Norm Brannon (Formerly Arenas) interviewed Rob Fish (108). It really is more of a terrific conversation to peak into or feel a part of.
Their perspective on HC/punk (circa 1990's and contemporary) feels very similar to mine.

Great guys and a great read.

"...there isn’t really this need to adjust to what punk rock or hardcore is today. It’s more about figuring out what we want to invest into what it means to us."

Moz is racist

sorry everybody, there ain't no denying it

"Although I don't have anything against people from other countries, the higher the influx into England the more the British identity disappears. So the price is enormous.

"You'll hear every accent under the sun apart from the British accent.

"Anybody can have access to England and join in

"The British identity is very attractive, I grew up into it and I find it quaint and very amusing."

Despite his lawsuit, he is not denying any of what was published.

"I find racism very silly. Almost too silly to discuss."

England Blew It

(I know I am late posting about this...)
On Wednesday, The England National team lost 2-3 to Croatia ending their bid for Europe 2008. Pitiful!
The responsibility falls heavy on coach McClaren who was promptly fired the following morning. I would even say that a fair amount of blame should be placed on the world class players who seem more interested in club football than their national team.
England is now knocked down to 12th in the FIFA International Ranking. That removes England from World Cup top seeding.

Since everything football relates somehow to David Beckham, how does this? It actually makes me feel sorry for Becks! He came on as a sub for his 99th cap and executed a great play. Now, although he says he is not retiring, chances are good that he will never see his 100th cap for England.

any thoughts?
does anyone care?

The Scenesters

I know we have all seen various sites and mags run profiles of subcultural stereotypes but this is the best one yet.
These are so fuckin hilarious and so fuckin accurate! I can't tell you how many people I know or know of that are these characters.
check it out:

read every word of every profile

Falafel = terrorism

The fuckin FBI sifted through customer data collected by San Francisco-area grocery stores hoping to find that people who eat Middle Eastern food were terrorists!

the Ron Paul virus

Ron Paul is a Republican Presidential candidate. He has quite impressively depicted himself as a populist outsider through what could be considered atypical viral methodology.
So is this Ron Paul as cool as all the graffiti and bloggers claim?

Here is an awesomely eloquent refuting of Ron Paul by Mr. Noam Chomsky (it is pretty funny too):

Football Ritual of Harrassment

At halftime of the American football Jets’ home games, several hundred men line one of Giants Stadium’s two pedestrian ramps at Gate D. Three deep in some areas, they whistle, jump up and down, yell obscenity-laced chant, and demanding that women in the gathering expose their breasts.

Somehow this is acceptable behavior.
The NFL refuse to take responsibility. The stadium security refuse to do anything citing "free speech." Even the sports journalists act like because it is common at football games, horse races, and NASCAR douchebag gatherings, it is alright (even linking it in someconfusing way to Janet Jackson's boob).

Those men should all be flogged like Jesus in Mel Gibson's flick... Or we could write to sports news and the NFL.

Check out this rapist-supporting douchebag's blog defending the behavior.
It seems easy to find sports blogs ferociously defending men's right to abuse women and get to see some tits.

What Is A Terrorist?

Joaquin Phoenix <3 "egg"rolls

Joaquin Phoenix is filming a movie that requires him to eat an eggroll. Being vegan, that created a situation for the film crew.
Here is the awesome story of how it was solved.

Now I want those vegan Gladiator costumes!

Rogue State

"If Bush carries on with his lies and deception it may be useful for you to read the book "The Rogue State."
-Osama bin Laden

"If he shares with me a deep dislike for the certain aspects of U.S. foreign policy, then I'm not going to spurn any endorsement of the book by him. I think it's good that he shares those views and I'm not turned off by that."

"Since the bin Laden recommendation, January 19, I have not been offered a single speaking engagement on any campus . . .This despite January-May normally being the most active period for me and other campus speakers."
-William Blum

(I know... old news)

Destroy Their Future

American Steel reformed relatively recently and they have released a new album, "Destroy Their Future."
I wasn't a fan before their breakup... Hell, I vaguely even knew of them.

This new album is great! It sounds like the album Against Me! should have made (with hints of Rancid, The Clash, and Springsteen). The lyrical content has some seriously intelligent, articulate, and uplifting radical politics and personal love songs.
Check it out!

Shazam! movie

I guess Hollywood is making a Shazam! film about Captain Marvel & Co.
Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson is reportedly playing Black Adam. Pretty good match.

Black Adam is currently one of my favorite comic book characters. I love how DC took the racist depiction of a weird Arab character and gave him proper depth... only to make him into a mass murdering dictator.

Larry King is dead

...Well, maybe not but I have long believed him to be braindead. Tune into his lame ass show any night and see a man so out of touch with reality, I am amazed he still has a show!

Well, he wasn't sure if Seinfeld was cancelled...
